 The Vembanad lake covers an area of over 1512 sq km.  The lake is bordered by Allappuzha (Alleppey), Kottayam, and Ernakulam districts. It lies at sea level, and is separated from the Arabian Sea by a narrow barrier island. Several rivers flow into the lake. The lake surrounds the islands of Pathiramanal, Perumbalam and Pallippuram. The VembanadLake is approximately 14 kilometres wide at its widest point and is still being used for transporting goods, vegetables etc.  In earlier time, it was the main mode of transportation of goods from distant points like Trivandrum, Quilon to Cochin and further noth.  


ROUTE I  : Alleppey to Alleppey
Day 01 : Check-in at Alleppey Jetty at 12:30 Noon
Cruise on the Pallathuruthy river, Pukaitha river, Pullangady till Champakulam.

At Champakulam visit - The Champakulam Church, which is more than 200 years old, the Kottaram temple and the famous snake boat – the Champakulam Chundan.

Thereafter cruise to Munnattumugham Nedumudy and enroute stop to visit the local market.

Anchor at Munnattumugham for night stay on Houseboat. 

Day 02: Return to Alleppey Jetty
Cruise starts after breakfast and passes through Chennamkery, Kainary, Pallathuruthy and Kuppapuram, all small villages, to reach Alleppey finishing point Jetty at 09.30 hours.


ROUTE II  : Alleppey to Kumarakom

Day 01 :  Check-in at Alleppey Jetty at 12:30 Noon.
Cruise through the Punnamada Lake - the venue of the famous Nehru Trophy snake boat race. Entering the enchanting waters of the Vembanad lake, you will get a chance to see the country people settled on the banks of the lakes, shops, school, school going children and vendors transporting their goods from point to other.  Enjoy the panoramic views gifted by the nature to this land. Visit R-Block, C-Block where paddy is cultivated below the sea water level. Stop by the Pathiramanal Island for photos. Visit Chavara Bhavan, the old wooden house where the blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born.
Night stay on Houseboat at Kumarakom.

Day 02 : Arrive Kumarakom
After breakfast, cruise towards Kumarakom Jetty.

Check-out at 09:30 hours.
